Position Available: with Arbor Springs Forestry Inc. in Burns, TN
Arbor Springs Forestry Inc. is a Consulting Forestry Firm seeking an energetic and dedicated professional for an entry level Forester position in the Middle TN Region. As part of a consulting firm you will have the ability to work in a multitude of different settings and situations. Initially this position will involve primary field work focusing on inventory and harvest operations on mainly private land holdings. As a candidate gains experience responsibilities will grow along with profit sharing incentives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Timber Sale Administration: Field work includes marking timber, flagging boundary lines, collecting GPS data, over-seeing ongoing harvest operations.
- Inventory/Appraisal: Inventory includes collection of field data on data recorders, transferring data in cruise system.
- Forest Management Planning: Collecting appropriate field data and preparing a forest management plan on stand level.
- GIS Mapping: Preparing cruise maps through GIS system.
- Office: Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, GPS, and GIS skills.
- Other: Become a primary contact for new and existing clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Forestry or related field. Bachelors degree preferred.
- Excellent communication skills- verbal and written.
- Knowledge of Upland & Bottomland Hardwoods and Southern Pine tree species.
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, GPS & GIS software, timber cruising software.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions. Often long days in rugged terrain.
